After successfully achieving an education in graphic design in his native Paris, Matmat integrated Geneva prestigious school of Fine-Arts to pursuit painting and sculpture. He then starts his professional career diving into the Web industry by opening a Web agency with friends, taking up the role of Artistic Director. Discovering this new world of Internet allows him to further grow as an artist. Matmat recently added web design to his competencies.
Although Matmat is working in Graphic arts, he stays a true art-painter.
Matmat takes his inspiration from two main themes, childhood and Japanese imagery – which finds a prominent place in his artwork – mixing it with logos and icons from the past (from the fifties till the eighties) and put them in a contemporary context. To help him bring his paintings to life, he uses multiple techniques such as acrylic paint, sprays, synthetic enamel paint or even serigraphy.
